The Experience
The bloom first, then above the clouds.
The Neelakurinji flowers just once every twelve years — for a few short weeks the slopes above Munnar turn violet. We walk straight through it on Day 1, then camp under the stars and climb to a sunrise most people only ever see in photographs.

01Day One · Sep 26
Neelakurinji & the camp
- 12:00 – 1:00 PM — pickup from Munnar Town after lunch (time may vary)
- Drive out to the Neelakurinji trek — the highlight of the day
- Trek through the bloom, with time to explore and photograph
- Continue to the campsite — check-in, freshen up & welcome drink
- Evening tea / coffee & biscuits
- Sunset trek to Anayirankal Dam, then back as the light goes
- Campfire with games & music
- Dinner — veg & non-veg
- Overnight stay in alpine tents
02Day Two · Sep 27
The sunrise day
- 4:00 – 5:00 AM — early morning wake-up call at camp
- Jeep pickup from the campsite
- 9–14 km jeep safari to Kolukkumalai via Suryanelli, through the tea estate
- Sunrise above the clouds — panoramic Western Ghats views
- Return to camp
- Breakfast
- Drop back to Munnar Town by jeep
- En route halt for gap road sightseeing or a waterfall — subject to timing & weather
All timings are indicative and may change with weather, road and jeep conditions, local permissions and safety requirements. Nights at camp are genuinely cold and the sunrise depends entirely on the sky — carry a warm layer, and the mountain does the rest.

Cancellation Policy
Clear terms, up front.
High-altitude camping depends on cold nights and clear skies — both outside anyone's control. These are the terms you agree to when you book.
Standard cancellations
- Cancel 7 or more days before departure and you receive a 75% refund.
- Cancellations within 7 days of departure are not refundable.
- Eligible refunds are credited to the original payment method within 7 working days of confirmation.
Rescheduling & transfers
- Bookings are non-transferable and cannot be rescheduled on request — regardless of personal reasons, unavailability or a change of plans.
Weather & safety
- If the camp, trek or sunrise safari is called off for bad weather, road or trail closures, or a safety decision, no refund is issued. Instead you choose either:
- Reschedule to any date within 12 months, subject to availability; or
- A full-value voucher, valid 12 months, against any future Chai Routes trip.
Government orders & extraordinary events
- No refunds are issued for cancellations caused by government-imposed restrictions, natural calamities, or other circumstances beyond Chai Routes' control.
- The same two options apply — reschedule within 12 months, or a full-value 12-month voucher.
Advance & balance
- The ₹1,500 advance confirms the seat and is subject to the terms above. The ₹1,399 balance is payable before departure; a seat may be released if the balance is not settled in time.
- Chai Routes is not responsible for travel costs you incur to reach the Munnar pickup point.
